Methodology Notes

All numbers in VAS data releases are adjusted to the gross-method of revenue recognition. Gross revenues are total revenues generated by VAS services while Net revenues are total revenues from VAS services net off-portal revenues by content providers.

The following differences in operators’ calculation methodology should also be taken into account:

1. Revenues from Content and Data Services are generated by content price per se as well as data traffic spent to download content. In some cases operators include revenues from content into data segment.
2. "Other" VAS services generally include basic (network) services like Voice Mail, CLIP, Call Forwarding, etc, but  some operators also allocate revenues from VAS tariff modifiers and administrative services (change of tariff plan, change of SIM-card, etc.) to revenues from  "Other"  VAS segment.
